What we do
At Lighthouse Disability it is always rewarding to receive positive feedback about the support we provide to people living with disabilities.
"We are so very happy with all the care and attention that is being given to BC since his recent arrival at Lighthouse. We are amazed at the commitment of all staff who support BC in a truly wonderful and caring way. We have seen an improvement in BC’s outlook on life and also on his physical wellbeing. We are very grateful to Lighthouse Disability as a whole and want to express our thankfulness and gratefulness for the staff directly caring for BC." - Margaret & Liz
"Lighthouse Disability is a positive organisation to be part of. They make my life easier." - Gerry
"My support workers help me to achieve my goals." - Leigh
"Our brother, TM, has been living at one of your houses for 4 months, and the support staff are more than wonderful when it comes to assisting him in his daily activities and special needs. The care and attention they have provided to TM is beyond expectation. Lighthouse Disability support staff do a wonderful job, especially in relation to his daily care needs.
The outings and other activities which have been planned certainly improve the quality of TM's life and they treat him with respect and dignity at all times. One staff member especially has been invaluable in organising medical treatment and activities.
All of the above, plus the warm welcome and hard work from both staff members and volunteers has made TM feel like he is living in his own home. Thank you all so very much." - Roland
"On behalf of our daughter LB and son SB who live in one of your houses, we would like to acknowledge the excellent and hard work of the Lighthouse Disability support staff to enable them to lead a fulfilling life.
We feel fortunate to have staff members of such high calibre and applaud their professionalism and caring support. We are most grateful." - Barry & Barb
"Our family has nothing but praise for the care provided by your support workers to our late son IC. We had no prior knowledge of Leveda (now Lighthouse Disability) until someone in the Huntingtons Dept at Flinders Hospital and a staff member of DisSA advised that they would try and get a place for him with Lighthouse when he was due to be discharged from Lyell McEwin Hospital. His whole stay at Lighthouse Disability was a happy and peaceful time and we cannot thank you and the members of staff enough for making his last two years such a memorable time. We had no worries about his care in your hands and it took such a weight off our shoulders knowing that he was so content with you." - Vera
"I would like to express my appreciation of Lighthouse Disability's support for my work with our mutual client, MC. Your team clearly go beyond your paid duties in support of him. It is clear MC has more challenges than everage and it is my impression your extra efforts have made a lot of difference. Keep it up!" - Dr Tim, Clinical Lead (Psychology)
"Like many others, DM was placed with Lighthouse Disability (Leveda) at a time of crisis about eight years ago when DM was in his mid-20's. At that time DM's care needs and our capacity to cope collided. The result was that over a period of years, the combination of DM's mental health challenges and disabilities, led to frequent hospitalisations and much distress. We came to a point where, despite our best intentions and love for him, and his love for us, we just could no longer care for him at home. Initially DM moved into an RSF but his care needs proved too great for that environment and his condition began to deteriorate.
Finally, after much discussion, frustration, lobbying and distress, Disability SA placed him with Leveda (now Lighthouse Disability). This was a turning point in DM's life and in ours also. The stability and consistent care that DM found at Lighthouse meant that hospitalisations dropped away to zero. While the first couple of years caring for DM were challenging for the Lighthouse team, the excellent house management has made all the difference for DM and for us.
DM enjoys a good quality of life, made all the better by the way that the house team 'iron out the wrinkles' when things become tangled for DM in his supported employment, day program and other situations. They provide a calm, ordered and stable environment that allows DM to be the best that he can be emotionally, socially and workwise, and also offers him a life full of enriching experiences.
We will forever be grateful for the love and care that has been shown to DM by the team at Lighthouse. We are also grateful for the work of the staff of Disability SA, who despite lack of resources and huge demand, did their very best. We feel blessed by the choice they made in placing DM with Lighthouse Disability." - Paul & Barbara
"Lighthouse Disability shows you what is available in the world." - Rory
"My support workers help me to have fun." - Jasmine
"I just wanted to say a big thank you to you and the team at Lighthouse Disability for your flexibility and support over the past few months, working together with CP.
Bedford Day Options has found it easy to work with Lighthouse Disability staff and believe we are on the right track with CP. I also believe that our lines of communication are working really well and that we are open and honest with each other for CP's benefit.
Please pass on this message to all the staff. Support workers don't often receive praise and in this case it is certainly justified." - Michael, Bedford Day Options Manager
